A SCENARIO FOR 2060
AFTER WORKCOMES A LIMIT.
By 2060, a global switch to automation has occurred; traditional jobs as we know them have vanished, replaced by AI-driven processes. Self-governing cities have taken the place of national governments to distribute basic goods via new automated systems. However, severe resource shortages have created a need for the capping of global energy use. As a result of this new automated system, everyday life is defined by strict local resource allowances rather than a dependency on financial wealth. People spend their time on community initiatives and creative work. While society is peaceful and stable, freedom to travel, consume goods, or run research projects remains heavily limited.
